Viscoelastic Coupling Dampers

Viscoleastic Coupling Dampers

The Viscoelastic Coupling Damper (VCD™) system is an award-winning technology that provides optimal performance for both wind and earthquakes without occupying any valuable architectural space.

Seamlessly Embedded within the Structure

VCD modules are simply configured in the most commonly used structural configurations, such as between reinforced concrete core walls replacing coupling beams, or between outriggers and exterior columns.

Robust Testing

Thousands of tests have been conducted on the VCD and VE material to date, including wind, seismic and high-cycle fatigue tests amongst others. Please see full-scale VCD test videos below of simulations of a VCD in an 85-storey building subject to a M9 earthquake, and a VCD under loading beyond a Maximum Credible Earthquake, causing a Viscoelastic-Plastic response.
